Our family

An Argentine family in Barcelona

Salta Food was born from a love of Argentine cooking, working as a family and respecting the recipes we grew up with.

Our story

We cook like at home

We’re an Argentine family who arrived in Barcelona with one clear idea: to share our food just the way we made it at home. No weird twists, no light versions: media masa pizza (thick, fluffy and generous with the cheese), handmade empanadas and milanesas (breaded veal cutlets) too big for the plate.

Our name and our colours come from Salta, in the north of Argentina, and it shows in everything: in the empanada salteña with its potato, in the red and black of the poncho, and in the way we welcome people, as if they’d come round for Sunday lunch.

Today our home is at Carrer de Casp 171, in the Eixample. A tiny place full of flags, paintings and the smell of freshly baked pizza, where every detail matters: from the kitchen to the table.

What drives us

Three things we won’t budge on

  1. Authentic recipes

Tall dough, generous cheese and recipes passed down through the generations.

  2. A family project

Every detail matters, from the kitchen to the table.

  3. Quality and respect

We respect the ingredients, the time it takes to make things properly, and every person who chooses us.

Why we’re red

The colour of the Salta poncho

The Salta poncho is red with black stripes, and it’s one of the great symbols of northern Argentina. Tradition has it that the black was added in mourning for General Martín Miguel de Güemes, a hero of independence. That’s why our home dresses in red and black: it’s our way of bringing a little piece of Salta to every table in Barcelona.
